In this paper, we present the results of a heavy metal soil geochemical survey in Hefei city and use three multifractal parameters to indicate the overall amount of multifractality within the soil geochemical data. The results show all of the elements barring Hg have larger multifractal parameters in the Daxing area compared to the Yicheng area. The degree of multifractality suggests that the differing economic activities in Daxing and Yicheng generate very different heavy metal pollution loads.

This paper showed the relevance of phase coherence by illustrations of signals with increasingly less restrictions on the phase function. Then the wavelet transform was used to determined the time–frequency spectrum of a time signal. We used the wavelet transform to identify critical group events of the influx signal and it is shown that the group event with the largest local energy signal is the most probable group to generate a freak wave. It gives a local mechanism of a freak wave appearance.

This paper presents a new spectral approach to identifying the periodic patterns from the published Indian temperature variability records. The wavelet analysis of the SSA reconstructed time series highlights the removal of noise in the data and identifies the existence of a high-amplitude, recurrent, multidecadal scale patterns in the Indian continent, confirming the possible influences of sunspot-geomagnetic activity-ENSO through teleconnection.
